Our Safety Commitment
At Big Lift Crane Service LLC, safety is not a department — it's a culture. Every member of our team, from operators to riggers to ground crew, is trained, certified, and held to the same uncompromising standard on every job site.
We operate in full compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC (Cranes and Derricks in Construction) and ASME B30 standards. Our procedures are documented, regularly reviewed, and enforced without exception — regardless of job size, schedule pressure, or site conditions.

Our Safety Procedures
Pre-Lift Safety Briefing
Before any pick, the entire crew gathers for a documented pre-lift briefing. We review the lift plan, assign roles, confirm communication protocols, identify exclusion zones, and discuss emergency procedures. No lift begins without crew sign-off.
Daily Equipment Inspection
Every crane and piece of rigging gear undergoes a documented inspection before each shift. We check wire ropes, hooks, shackles, outrigger pads, hydraulic systems, and load indicators against manufacturer specifications and ASME B30 criteria.
Rigging Inspection & Load Verification
All rigging hardware is inspected for wear, deformation, and certification status before use. Load weights are independently verified and confirmed against crane capacity charts before the first pick.
Ground Condition Assessment
We assess ground bearing capacity at every outrigger location before setting up. Outrigger pads are sized to distribute loads safely, and soft or unstable ground is addressed before any crane is positioned.
Exclusion Zone Enforcement
Clearly defined exclusion zones are established around every lift. Barricades, signage, and a dedicated signal person ensure no unauthorized personnel enter the swing radius or load path during operations.
Weather Monitoring
We monitor wind speed, visibility, and weather forecasts before and during every operation. Lifts are suspended when conditions exceed manufacturer wind limits or create unsafe working conditions — no exceptions.
Communication Protocol
All lifts use standardized hand signals and two-way radio communication between the operator, signal person, and rigging crew. Only one designated signal person communicates with the operator at any time.
Post-Job Safety Review
After every job, our crew conducts a brief post-job review to document any near-misses, equipment issues, or procedural observations. This continuous feedback loop drives ongoing improvement in our safety program.
OSHA & Regulatory Compliance
We operate in full compliance with all applicable federal and state safety regulations governing crane and rigging operations.
Cranes & Derricks in Construction
Full compliance with OSHA's primary standard governing crane assembly, disassembly, operation, and inspection on construction sites.
Safety Standard for Cableways, Cranes & Hoists
All equipment inspections, rigging practices, and operational procedures conform to ASME B30 series standards.
Slings
All sling types — wire rope, chain, synthetic — are inspected, rated, and used in accordance with OSHA sling safety standards.
Certified Crane Operators
Our operators hold current NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) certifications, the industry's gold standard for operator qualification.
OSHA Training
All crew members hold current OSHA 10-hour certifications. Key personnel carry OSHA 30-hour cards, demonstrating advanced knowledge of construction safety standards.
Certified Riggers
Our rigging crew holds current certifications from recognized bodies including NCCCO Rigger Level I & II, ensuring proper rigging practices on every lift.
Personal Protective Equipment
All Big Lift personnel on active job sites are required to wear full PPE at all times. We enforce a strict no-exceptions policy — visitors and subcontractors on our sites are held to the same standard.
